Since 1996, I have been producing visual communications design for both print and the web for the profit, nonprofit and healthcare industry. My experience goes far beyond your typical logo, business card, CD sleeve cover, letterhead, stationery design packages, but also encompasses menu designs, web/screen casting, video editing, Flash animation, proposal design, sponsorship design, brochures, wall banners/signage and exhibit booth design. Say you are a professional motivational speaker and wanted to have your PowerPoint and audio presentation to be recorded and put on the Internet for your clients to view from anywhere they are. I will work with you into getting your presentation and voice recorded and digitalize. Then I will edit the video making sure it all sounds good and removing any unwanted sound or adding in some soft background audio if needed. Then I will put the video online making sure that the size has been optimized and compress making it small enough for viewers to watch online.
I am a firm believer that what makes a great designer is their creativity, attention to detail and professionalism. While I know many graphic and web applications, I feel they are just tools and not what makes a designer. There are many people who can use Adobe Dreamweaver to design a website, but when you look at the majority of the websites that are out there, many have poor layout, are unaesthetically pleasing, long downloading time, not search engine optimized, not organized and difficult to navigate, in which a typically viewer who just landed on the page would leave in about 3 seconds, losing a potential customer. I work very hard to make sure all my clients get the attention and creativity that they need in their graphical and marketing piece.
Therefore, before I even begin a design piece for my client, whether it be print, web or animation, I make sure I have a detail discussion with them asking them questions and even questioning them. Because sometimes a client may want to do something that might not be necessary or there might be a more efficient and cost effective way of doing it. My job is to work with my client and help them communicate their key messages, for if they succeed in their business, so too will I because they will be satisfied with the results and tell others about me as well as be a return client. We will discuss about timelines, the target audience, budget, their needs, and I will go through with them the step by step process of producing a successful final design piece.
